About the role

We are looking for a Senior WordPress Engineer to own production CMS features across PHP services, themes, plugins and frontend interfaces. You will build maintainable custom solutions, integrate APIs, improve performance and security, and support reliable releases and production operations.

Key responsibilities

- Develop PHP-based user interfaces and backend functionality.

- Build and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins.

- Evaluate, configure and customise third-party plugins responsibly.

- Develop and maintain CMS capabilities and editor workflows.

- Integrate internal and external APIs.

- Optimise page performance, queries, caching and asset delivery.

- Apply WordPress and PHP security best practices.

- Write tests and support delivery automation.

- Review code, mentor teammates and troubleshoot production issues.

- Own WordPress features independently from design through production support.

- Choose maintainable extension patterns without unnecessary core or vendor modification.

- Build secure, performant and upgrade-compatible solutions.

- Review code and strengthen team engineering standards.

- Diagnose production issues methodically and implement durable fixes.

- PHP 7.x/8.x and object-oriented PHP.

- WordPress CMS development.

- Custom theme development.

- Custom plugin development and lifecycle management.

- WordPress hooks, filters and APIs.

- Debugging and performance optimization.

- WordPress security best practices.

- Git and production-support experience.
