Job Summary

The Cath Lab Scrub Nurse is responsible for maintaining a sterile field and assisting cardiologists during invasive cardiac procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, and device implantation. The role ensures patient safety, infection control, and smooth execution of procedures in the cath lab.

Key Responsibilities1. Pre-Procedure Preparation
- Prepare cath lab before procedures.
- Check and arrange sterile instruments, catheters, wires, balloons, and stents.
- Ensure all consumables and emergency drugs are available.
- Perform surgical hand scrub and maintain sterile field.

2. Intra-Procedure Assistance
- Assist cardiologist during procedures such as:
- Coronary Angiography
- Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Pacemaker / ICD implantation
- Pass instruments, catheters, and devices in a sterile manner.
- Anticipate the needs of the cardiologist during procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
- Assist in managing complications/emergencies.

3. Patient Monitoring Support
- Coordinate with monitoring staff for patient vitals.




- Be alert for any changes in patient condition.

4. Post-Procedure Duties
- Assist in removal of catheters and sheath if required.
- Ensure proper dressing of puncture site.
- Help in shifting patient to recovery/ICU.
- Clean and prepare cath lab for next case.

5. Infection Control & Safety
- Maintain strict sterile setting.
- Follow biomedical waste management protocols.
- Adhere to radiation safety measures (use of lead apron, thyroid shield, etc.).

6. Equipment & Inventory Management
- Ensure availability of cath lab consumables.
- Maintain stock and inform shortages.
- Check sterility and expiry of items.

7. Documentation
- Maintain records of procedures and consumables used.
- Assist in billing documentation.
- Ensure checklist completion for each procedure.

Required Qualifications
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid Nursing Council Registration

Experience
- 1-3 years in Cath Lab / OT (preferred)
