Job Summary

The College Librarian is responsible for managing the institution’s library services, resources, and systems to support teaching, learning, and research activities. The role involves curating collections, assisting students and faculty, and maintaining both physical and digital library resources.

Key Responsibilities

Library Management
- Oversee daily operations of the college library
- Organize, classify, and catalog books, journals, and digital materials
- Maintain library inventory and ensure proper record-keeping

User Support
- Assist students and faculty in locating and using resources
- Provide research guidance and reference services
- Conduct library orientation sessions for recent students

Digital & E-Resources
- Manage digital library systems and databases
- Ensure access to e-books, journals, and online resources
- Stay updated with library technologies and automation tools

Collection Development
- Select and acquire new books, journals,



and multimedia resources
- Evaluate and weed out outdated or damaged materials
- Coordinate with faculty for curriculum-based resource planning

Administrative Duties
- Prepare reports on library usage and activities
- Manage library budget and procurement processes
- Supervise library staff (if applicable)

Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLIS / M.Lib.Sc)
- Relevant experience in an academic or college library preferred
- Knowledge of library management systems and cataloging standards

Key Skills
- Strong organizational and cataloging skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with digital databases and research tools
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic IT proficiency
