The Opportunity

Maribyrnong City Council is seeking a Community Connector to support community engagement activities as part of the Monash University Flood to Flourish program. The Flood to Flourish program is partnering with communities, Councils, floodplain managers and emergency services to develop and test new methods and tools for empowering communities to participate in collaborative flood risk management and community resilience strengthening efforts.

The Community Connector role is suited to someone who lives in, or has solid connections to, the Maribyrnong community, particularly areas impacted by the 2022 flood event, and is passionate about supporting community resilience.

The Community Connector will act as a key link between Council, the Monash University research team and the local community, supporting engagement,



participation and relationship-building to ensure community voices and lived experience are centred in the project.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary point of contact for community members involved in the Flood to Flourish program
- Build and maintain strong relationships
- Support community engagement activities, including workshops, meetings and interviews
- Help with community-based research, data collection and local knowledge gathering
- Provide feedback to the project team on community perspectives, concerns and opportunities
- Support outreach, communications and the coordination of local project activities
