About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Test Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products by meeting specific testing metrics and quality objectives. Success in this position will be measured by reduction in production defects, testing efficiency, and ability to maintain high-quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Performance Indicators
Achieve 95%+ test coverage for all new features and major updates
Reduce escaped defects (bugs found in production) by at least 20% within 6 months
Maintain a defect closure rate of at least 90% for each sprint
Complete 100% of assigned test cases within sprint timeframes
Contribute to reducing overall QA cycle time by 15% through process improvements
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute 20+ comprehensive test plans per quarter, ensuring 90%+ test coverage
Create and maintain at least 50 automated test scripts each quarter, with 98% reliability rate
Identify and log 90% of critical defects before code reaches staging environments
Reduce average defect resolution time from 72 hours to 48 hours through clear documentation
Conduct 10+ cross-browser/device compatibility tests per release
Complete performance testing for all recent features, ensuring they meet defined performance benchmarks
Decrease regression testing time by 20% through optimized test suites and automation
Participate in 100% of sprint planning and review meetings, providing QA perspective
Submit weekly metrics reports covering test execution status, defect trends, and quality risks
Mentor 1-2 junior QA team members per year
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
3+ years of experience in software testing with demonstrable metrics of success
Proven track record of reducing production defects by at least 15% year over year
Experience managing 500+ test cases within test management sys
