Role Overview

We are hiring a full-time Lab Attender for a school-based Nuffield-style guided-inquiry science/physics lab. You will ensure experiments are set up on time, equipment is organized and maintained, and the lab remains safe and student-ready every day.
Key Responsibilities

1) Lab Setup & Classroom Support

Set up apparatus for scheduled experiments and activities before classes.

Reset/pack up experiments after sessions and prepare for the next class.

Assist teachers during lab periods (issue materials, manage group flow, basic troubleshooting).

Prepare consumables in advance (cutting, measuring, assembling easy rigs).

2) Inventory & Storage System

Maintain a clean and consistent storage system (labeled racks/rows/boxes).

Track items issued/returned; identify missing/damaged components.

Create “ready-to-run kits” for each experiment so teachers can run sessions smoothly.

Update basic inventory records (Google Sheets or logs).

3) Lab Maintenance & Safety

Keep benches, storage, and equipment clean and functional.





Follow lab safety rules and support safe student handling of equipment.

Report repair/replacement needs and coordinate routine checks.

Maintain checklists for setup, packing, and restocking.

4) Support for Making/Repairs (Optional but valued)

Minor repairs/assembly work (tightening, mounting, replacing parts).

Help fabricate simple add-ons (basic tool work; 3D-printed parts support is a plus).
Requirements

Comfort working with physical equipment and doing hands-on setup work daily.

Strong organization and attention to detail (labeling, tracking, systematic storage).

Basic measurement and tool handling skills (ruler; vernier calipers preferred).

Reliability, punctuality, and ability to follow checklists and instructions.

Calm problem-solving mindset for routine lab issues.
Preferred (Nice to have)

Prior experience in a school/college lab, workshop, or maker environment.
