ROLE SUMMARY The QA / Test Automation Engineer is MMG's quality gatekeeper for AI-generated code across platforms. As MMG IT moves from partner-led delivery to in-house, AI-augmented engineering, the volume of code shipped increases — and so does the risk of subtle defects in payroll calculations, consolidation logic, route optimisation, and trade P&L.; This role builds the automated regression and validation layer that gives the team confidence to ship faster without breaking production.
The role spans test strategy, framework engineering, and hands-on test authoring.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Test strategy across four platforms: Define and own the test strategy for HRMS, EPM, TMS, and CTRM. Decide what to test manually, automate, or leave to monitoring. Risk-rank modules — payroll math and consolidation are not negotiable. AI-output validation patterns: Build test suites specifically designed to surface AI hallucinations — fabricated APIs, missed edge cases, off-by one errors, currency/unit mistakes, silent failures.
Make AI-generated code measurably safer to ship. Engineer test coaching: Coach all engineers — from Architect to Intern — on unit, integration, and end-to-end test standards. Define the team’s testing playbook. Set expectations for TDD/BDD adoption alongside AI coding tools so every developer writes tests from day one. Automated regression: Build and maintain end-to-end and integration suites using Playwright, Cypress, pytest, or equivalent.
Plug into CI/CD. Aim for fast, reliable, low-flake suites. Domain-specific test data & fixtures: Build reusable fixture architectures and seed data for repeatable tests across environments — sample employee records with multi-country tax cases, multi-entity consolidation scenarios with FX, sample trips with fuel and route data,
sample trades with hedges and mark-to-market positions. Performance & load testing: Run baseline performance tests on platforms exposed to multiple BUs. Catch regressions early. Bug triage & quality reporting: Reproduce, classify, and prioritise defects.
Publish weekly quality dashboards (coverage, defect escape rate, flake rate) to the Architect and Product Owners. Process: Define and enforce the team's definition of done, release readiness checks, and post-release verification.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS &
SKILLS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent. 5+ years in software QA roles, with at least 2 years in test automation. Deep, hands-on expertise in modern test automation — particularly Playwright (strongly preferred) plus at least one of Cypress, Selenium, pytest, or Jest. Solid framework architecture skills, not just test authoring. Strong scripting ability in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python. Strong Git fluency and daily working experience with GitHub or GitLab — particularly using CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) as gating mechanisms, not just informational checks. Strong understanding of API testing (REST, OAuth flows), SQL, and database validation. Sharp eye for edge cases — particularly money, dates, currency, units of measure, and the failure modes of AI-generated code. Excellent written communication — bug reports, test plans, quality reports. Demonstrable experience coaching engineers on unit, integration, and end-to-end test standards — not just owning QA in isolation.
