Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Engineer to support our Purchase Head/Manager in day-to-day procurement operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience purchasing raw materials and consumables specific to structural steel fabrication or PEB manufacturing, and will be comfortable working closely with production, quality, and stores teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Purchase Head/Manager in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials (MS plates, structural steel sections, sheets, coils) and consumables (welding electrodes, paints, fasteners, etc.)
- Float and evaluate RFQs/enquiries; prepare comparative statements for vendor selection
- Coordinate with vendors for pricing, delivery schedules, and quality compliance (IS 2062 and other applicable standards)
- Track open purchase orders and follow up for timely delivery to avoid production delays
- Maintain and update vendor database, rate contracts, and price history
- Coordinate with stores/inventory team for stock levels, reorder points, and material reconciliation
- Verify material test certificates (MTCs) and ensure incoming materials meet ISO 9001:2015 and project specifications
- Support vendor registration and empanelment processes (e.g.,



PSU/OEM vendor portals)
- Assist in cost analysis and identifying opportunities for cost savings
- Maintain purchase records, GST-compliant documentation, and support audits

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (B.E./B.Tech/Diploma)
- 2–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in structural steel fabrication, PEB, heavy engineering, or metal manufacturing industry
- Working knowledge of steel grades, sections, and fabrication consumables
- Familiarity with GST, purchase order processes, and vendor negotiation
- Proficiency in MS Excel; exposure to ERP/inventory software is a plus
- Solid communication and follow-up skills
- Ability to work under production deadlines

Preferred

- Prior experience working with structural steel mills, PEB component suppliers, or industrial fabrication vendors
- Knowledge of standards such as IS 2062, AWS D1.1, SSPC-SP 10
