Job Title / Role: Product Engineer
Department: NPD - 2W ( ICE & EV )
Location: Hosur
Education Qualification: B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics/ Electrical & Electronics.
Candidates with project management tools in preferred
Required Experience: Minimum of 7 years
Purpose of the Role : Drive innovation and efficiency in vehicle development by leveraging road trip data analysis, preparing HOQ, coordinating mule vehicle development, creating preliminary BOMs, planning project resources, and benchmarking to ensure competitive products that meet customer needs.
RoleDescription
1. Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/DFMEA) to identify single-point failures and mitigate operational risks. 2. Analyze road trip data to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities. 3. Prepare House of Quality (HOQ) to translate customer needs into engineering specifications. 4. Design and define full-vehicle electrical system architectures, including low-voltage (12V/48V) and high-voltage (HV) power distribution networks. 5. Select and size electrical components, including connectors, fuses, relays, busbars, power distribution units (PDUs), and Electronic Control Units (ECUs). 6. Define functional safety (ISO 26262)
and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) requirements for all electrical sub-systems. 7. Collaborate with Powertrain, Software, Thermal, and Body teams to integrate electrical hardware into the total vehicle envelope. 8. Knowledge and understanding to define pinouts, communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and power supply logic 9. Formulate Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R;) documents for electrical system acceptance. 10. Lead root-cause analysis (8D / Why-Why methodologies) for electrical defects during prototype builds & pre-production runs. 11. Coordinate mule vehicle development and testing activities. 12. Conduct benchmarking studies to compare product performance against competitors. 13. Excellent communication skills for managing cross-department dependencies and ability to work effectively in rapid-paced product development cycles (APQP / Stage-Gate process). 14.
