Role Description The Ophthalmic Assistant will support ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering high-quality clinical care to patients in a quick-paced eye hospital setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with patient intake, preliminary eye examinations, vision testing, and documenting clinical findings in patient records. The role involves performing specialized diagnostic procedures as trained, preparing patients for surgeries or procedures, and helping maintain examination rooms, instruments, and equipment.

The Ophthalmic

Assistant will also coordinate patient flow, provide clear instructions on tests and follow-up care,



and work closely with the optical, pharmacy, and lab teams to ensure a smooth patient experience. This is a full-time, on-site role based in India.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Optometry, including basic vision assessment, and preliminary eye examination techniques.
- Candidates should possess skills in Fundus Photography and other diagnostic imaging or testing relevant to ophthalmic care.
- Candidates should possess skills as a Scribe, accurately documenting patient history, examination findings, and doctor’s notes in medical records.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Medical Terminology and Medicine related to ophthalmology, including common eye conditions, procedures, and medications.
- Diploma or certification in Ophthalmic Assistance, Optometry, or a related field is preferred.
- Solid attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to follow clinical protocols and infection control practices.
- Effective communication skills in English and local languages, with a patient-centered approach and professional conduct.
- Prior experience in an eye hospital or ophthalmology clinic is an advantage, but motivated early-career candidates may also be considered.
