STAFF NURSE – NICU

Locations: Ovum Hospital – Banashankari & Hennur, Bengaluru

Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Job Summary

We are looking for experienced and compassionate Staff Nurses – NICU to provide specialized nursing care to premature, critically ill and high-risk newborns. Candidates should have hands-on experience working in a hospital NICU and be confident in neonatal monitoring, emergency care and operating NICU equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates admitted to the NICU.
- Monitor neonatal vital signs, SpO₂, temperature, heart rate and clinical condition.
- Provide care for preterm, low-birth-weight and critically ill neonates.
- Handle and monitor incubators, radiant warmers, CPAP, ventilators and other neonatal equipment.
- Administer medications, IV fluids and prescribed treatments accurately.
- Assist doctors/neonatologists during procedures and emergency interventions.
- Assist in neonatal resuscitation and emergency management when required.
- Maintain IV lines, feeding tubes and other neonatal access as per protocol.
- Provide appropriate enteral feeding and feeding support to neonates.
- Closely observe and immediately report any deterioration in the baby's condition.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication charts, observation charts and other NICU documentation.
- Follow strict infection-control,



hand hygiene and aseptic protocols.
- Ensure NICU equipment, emergency trolley and consumables are ready and functional.
- Assist during admissions, transfers and discharge procedures.
- Communicate effectively with neonatologists, pediatricians and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide appropriate support and guidance to parents regarding neonatal care.
- Follow hospital policies, patient-safety standards and NABH protocols.
- Participate in handovers, rounds and nursing training programs.

Qualification
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- BLS/NALS certification will be an added advantage.

Mandatory Experience
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on NICU experience in a hospital is mandatory.
- Candidates with experience in Level II/III NICU, CPAP/ventilator care, neonatal resuscitation and care of preterm/high-risk babies will be preferred.
- Freshers without NICU experience are not eligible.
