STAFF NURSE – LDR (LABOUR, DELIVERY & RECOVERY)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse – LDR to provide quality nursing care to antenatal, intranatal and postnatal mothers and newborns. The candidate should have hands-on experience in a hospital LDR/Labour Room and be capable of handling routine and emergency obstetric situations.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor maternal vitals, labour progress, contractions and Fetal Heart Rate (FHR).
- Operate and monitor CTG/Cardiotocography and identify abnormal readings.
- Prepare patients for labour and delivery and provide continuous nursing care.
- Assist doctors during normal, assisted and emergency deliveries.
- Assist with induction of labour and related obstetric procedures.
- Administer medications, IV fluids and injections as prescribed.
- Prepare and maintain LDR room, delivery sets, instruments and emergency trolley.
- Assist in managing obstetric emergencies such as fetal distress, PPH and eclampsia.
- Provide immediate care and support to the newborn after delivery and coordinate with the pediatric/NICU team when required.
- Monitor mothers during the immediate post-delivery/recovery period.
- Maintain accurate labour records, partographs,



medication charts, nursing notes and handover reports.
- Follow strict infection-control, aseptic and patient-safety protocols.
- Provide emotional support, breastfeeding guidance and basic postnatal education to mothers.
- Coordinate effectively with OBG consultants, pediatricians, anesthetists, OT, NICU and other departments.
- Ensure proper availability of consumables, equipment and emergency supplies in LDR.
- Maintain proper documentation and follow hospital nursing policies and protocols.

Qualification
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- BLS certification preferred.

Experience Required
- 1–3 years of experience in LDR / Labour Room / Maternity in a hospital is mandatory.
- Candidates with hands-on experience in labour monitoring, CTG, normal delivery assistance and obstetric emergencies will be preferred.
