Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support day-to-day laboratory operations in a coal mining setting. The Lab Assistant will assist with sample collection, preparation, testing, data recording, and maintaining a clean and safe lab environment under the supervision of senior laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collect coal samples from designated locations (e.g., mine site, stockpile, conveyor belt).

- Prepare and label samples for testing (crushing, grinding, moisture control, etc.).

- Assist in conducting standard tests including moisture, ash, volatile matter, fixed carbon, and calorific value.

- Record test data accurately and maintain laboratory logs.

- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and tools.





- Follow safety protocols and use PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times.

- Dispose of waste materials according to environmental and safety standards.

- Support inventory management of chemicals, reagents, and glassware.

- Assist senior chemists with advanced analysis as required.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or Certificate in Chemistry, Science, or Laboratory Technology.

- 1–3 years of experience in an industrial or mining lab setting preferred.

- Basic understanding of chemical testing procedures and lab safety.

- Good observational and organizational skills.

- Ability to work in shifts and in a dusty/mining environment.

Preferred Skills:

- Familiarity with coal testing standards (ASTM/ISO).

- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

- Ability to handle laboratory instruments safely and accurately.
