About The Role We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality, widely-used public GitHub repositories, particularly those with over 5000 stars.

This role involves hands-on software engineering tasks such as automating development environments, triaging issues, and evaluating test coverage and quality. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving open-source projects, ensuring their robustness and reliability. The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI and developer tools, collaborate with researchers, and potentially lead a team of junior engineers.

Your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness of AI-powered solutions and automation tools designed to solve complex real-world problems.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess between 2 to 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript development. Proficiency with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run, modify, and test real-world projects locally, and contribute meaningfully to open-source projects.





Experience in evaluating or contributing to open-source repositories is advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment are also required. Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and experience in research or testing related to AI and automation tools will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities As a software engineer in this role, your daily responsibilities will include analyzing and triaging issues across trending open-source libraries on GitHub, particularly those with high star counts. You will set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and development.

Evaluating unit test coverage and quality will be a key task to ensure project robustness. You will modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of large language models (LLMs) in bug-fixing scenarios, providing valuable insights for research and development. Collaborating with researchers to identify challenging repositories and issues suitable for LLM evaluation will be part of your role.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to lead and mentor junior engineers,



guiding project development and ensuring best practices are followed. Your work will contribute to the continuous improvement of open-source projects and AI tools, enhancing their reliability and effectiveness.

Benefits This position offers a fully remote work workplace, providing flexibility and the ability to work from anywhere. The employment is on a contract basis, with full-time commitments of 40 hours per week, including at least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST).

The role provides competitive daily pay rates based on experience, ranging from US $40 to US $65 per day.
