About the RoleEssem Industries Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced International Welding Engineer (IWE) to lead welding engineering, quality, and compliance activities across our manufacturing operations.
The role involves working on fabrication and welding systems for global railway OEM projects, with a strong focus on international welding standards, process improvement, quality, and automation.
Key Responsibilities• Act as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) for welding activities.
- Develop, review, and approve WPS, PQR/WPQR, and Welder Qualification documentation.
- Ensure compliance with EN 15085, ISO 3834, ISO 9606, ISO 14731, customer specifications, and applicable welding standards.
- Provide technical support to Production and Quality teams for welding related issues.
- Optimize welding parameters, sequences, processes, and productivity.
- Investigate welding defects and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate welder qualification, training, and certification.
- Support customer, internal, and certification audits.
- Coordinate welding inspection and NDT activities where required.
- Support robotic and automated welding systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience• Valid IWE certification from an IIW/EWF recognized body is required.
- BE/BTech/Diploma in Mechanical,
Metallurgy, Welding, Production, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5 to 15+ years of relevant welding engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of MIG/MAG and TIG welding.
- Experience with stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel welding.
- Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, distortion control, and welding defects.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of WPS/PQR and welder qualification requirements.
- Good technical documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred ExperienceCandidates with the following experience will be strongly preferred:
- Railway, Metro, Locomotive, or heavy fabrication manufacturing.
- Practical implementation of EN 15085 and ISO 3834.
- Robotic welding systems such as FANUC, ABB, or KUKA.
- NDT Level II certification.
- Global railway OEM or customer audits.
- ISO 5817 and other international welding standards.
