Commercial Interior Designer – Job Responsibilities

1. Client Requirement & Brief

- Meet clients and understand their business requirements.
- Understand space utilization, brand identity, budget and timeline.
- Prepare design briefs and project requirements.
- Suggest practical and cost-effective design solutions.

2. Concept & Space Planning

- Develop commercial interior concepts for offices, restaurants, retail stores, salons, hotels, showrooms, etc.
- Prepare space planning and furniture layouts.
- Plan circulation, workstations, cabins, reception, meeting rooms and service areas.
- Ensure effective utilization of available space.

3. Design Development

- Prepare mood boards, material boards and design presentations.
- Develop 2D layouts, elevations and detailed drawings.
- Prepare 3D views/renderings where required.
- Coordinate architectural, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and other services with the interior design.

4. Working Drawings & Documentation

- Prepare detailed working drawings for site execution.
- Prepare furniture layouts, ceiling plans, flooring layouts and wall elevations.
- Prepare electrical, lighting and other coordination drawings.
- Ensure drawings are accurate and practical for execution.

5. Material & Specification Selection

- Select materials, finishes, colours, furniture, lighting and fixtures.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for samples and specifications.
- Compare material quality, cost and availability.
- Ensure materials meet the approved design and client requirements.

6. BOQ & Cost Control

- Prepare and review BOQ (Bill of Quantities).
- Estimate quantities and project costs.
- Coordinate with estimation/procurement teams.
- Suggest alternatives when the project exceeds budget.
- Monitor design changes and their cost impact.

7. Vendor & Contractor Coordination

- Coordinate with contractors, carpenters, electricians, civil contractors, fabricators and suppliers.




- Obtain quotations and compare vendor proposals.
- Clarify drawings and technical requirements with contractors.
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.

8. Site Supervision & Execution

- Regularly visit the project site.
- Check whether work is being executed according to approved drawings.
- Inspect workmanship and material quality.
- Identify site issues and provide design/technical solutions.
- Coordinate multiple agencies working simultaneously on site.

9. Project Coordination

- Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Engineer, Architect, MEP consultants, contractors and client.
- Track project progress against the schedule.
- Attend site meetings and client meetings.
- Maintain proper documentation of drawings, revisions and approvals.

10. Quality Control

- Ensure execution follows approved specifications and drawings.
- Check dimensions, finishes, alignment and workmanship.
- Identify defects and coordinate rectification.
- Maintain commercial interior quality standards.

11. Client Presentation & Approval

- Present concepts, layouts, 3D designs, materials and finishes to clients.
- Explain design decisions and commercial implications.
- Incorporate client feedback.
- Obtain approvals before execution.

12. Final Handover

- Conduct final inspection.
- Prepare snag/punch lists.
- Coordinate rectification of pending work.
- Verify completed work against drawings and specifications.
- Support final project handover to the client.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹27,000.00 per month
