Role Description The Insurance Underwriter at Coverbiz is responsible for assessing risk, evaluating client information, and determining appropriate coverage and pricing for business insurance policies. In this full-time remote role, the underwriter reviews applications, financial statements, and risk assessments, and applies underwriting guidelines to make informed decisions.

Day-to-day tasks include analyzing exposure to various hazards, coordinating with sales and account management teams, and communicating decisions and conditions clearly to internal stakeholders and clients. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation,



adhering to regulatory and company standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of underwriting processes and tools.

The Insurance

Qualifications

- Solid analytical skills to evaluate risk, interpret financial data, and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Solid foundation in insurance and underwriting, with experience in commercial or business insurance lines.
- Effective communication skills to explain coverage decisions, collaborate with internal teams, and support client-facing staff.
- Knowledge of finance and risk management principles to assess exposure and pricing appropriately.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g., Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases in a remote work environment.
- Comfort with digital tools, insurance platforms, and data-driven decision-making; prior experience in insurtech or online insurance platforms is a plus.
- Professional certifications in insurance or underwriting (such as CPCU, AU, or equivalent) are beneficial but not required.
