Position: OT Technician – Implanter

Department: Clinical / Hair Transplant OT

Reporting To: Hair Transplant Surgeon / Clinical Head / OT Head

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Job Purpose:

The OT Technician – Implanter is responsible for supporting the Hair Transplant Surgeon and clinical team during hair transplant procedures, with a primary focus on safe graft handling, graft loading/implantation assistance as authorized, OT preparation, infection-control practices, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.

The role requires excellent hand-eye coordination, precision, speed with accuracy, strict adherence to clinical protocols, and a strong commitment to patient safety and graft viability.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Hair Transplant Procedure Assistance

- Assist the surgeon and clinical team during hair transplant procedures such as FUE/DHT or other techniques followed by the clinic.
- Perform graft implantation or implantation-related assistance only within the technician’s approved scope of practice and under appropriate clinical supervision.
- Assist in loading grafts into implanter pens/needles as per the procedure protocol.
- Maintain appropriate coordination with the extraction, graft-processing, and implantation teams.
- Follow the surgeon’s instructions regarding graft distribution, sequence, and procedural workflow.

2. Graft Handling & Preservation

- Handle follicular grafts carefully to minimize trauma, crushing, dehydration, or unnecessary manipulation.
- Ensure grafts are stored and maintained in the prescribed holding solution and temperature conditions according to clinic protocol.
- Maintain accurate graft counts during extraction, sorting, loading, implantation, and completion of the procedure.
- Immediately report damaged grafts, discrepancies in graft counts, or other concerns to the surgeon/OT Head.
- Minimize unnecessary out-of-body time and support efficient graft movement throughout the procedure.

3. OT Preparation & Sterility

- Prepare the OT before every procedure according to the clinic’s OT preparation checklist.
- Ensure required instruments, implanters, consumables, PPE, and emergency supplies are available before starting the procedure.
- Follow hand hygiene, surgical scrubbing, gowning, gloving, aseptic techniques, and infection-control protocols.
- Maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Ensure reusable instruments are appropriately cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, stored, and handled according to clinic protocols.




- Ensure single-use items are never reused.

4. Equipment & Instrument Management

- Check microscopes, implanter devices, surgical instruments, suction systems, and other required equipment before procedures.
- Ensure equipment is functional, clean, and ready for use.
- Immediately report equipment malfunction, damage, or shortage to the OT Head/concerned department.
- Maintain proper accountability for OT instruments and consumables.

5. Patient Safety & Assistance

- Assist with patient preparation before the procedure according to established protocols.
- Support correct patient identification and completion of required pre-procedure checks.
- Observe the patient during the procedure and immediately report pain, excessive bleeding, dizziness, allergic reactions, abnormal vital signs, or other signs of distress to the doctor.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, comfort, and confidentiality at all times.
- Follow instructions from the treating doctor in the event of an emergency or complication.

6. Documentation

- Maintain accurate records of graft counts and other technician-related procedural information.
- Complete required OT checklists and procedure documentation.
- Record utilization of instruments and consumables wherever applicable.
- Ensure documentation is completed accurately and handed over to the appropriate clinical team member.

7. Biomedical Waste & Infection Control

- Segregate and dispose of biomedical waste according to applicable clinic protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Dispose of needles, blades, and other sharps only in designated sharps containers.
- Follow needle-stick injury and exposure protocols in case of accidental occupational exposure.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection-control standards within the OT.

8. Professional Conduct & Team Coordination

- Maintain discipline, punctuality, personal hygiene, and professional grooming.
- Avoid unnecessary conversation, mobile-phone use, or other distractions during procedures.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, doctors, nurses, OT technicians, and other clinical staff.
- Participate in clinical training,



skill assessments, audits, and competency-development programs.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient photographs, records, treatment information, and clinic data.
- Perform only those clinical activities for which the employee is trained, assessed as competent, authorized by the clinic, and legally permitted.

Required Skills & Competencies:

- Good knowledge of hair transplant OT procedures and workflow.
- Proficiency in graft handling and implanter loading/implantation assistance.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Ability to handle delicate follicular grafts with precision.
- Understanding of aseptic technique, sterilization, and infection-control practices.
- Ability to work efficiently during long procedures while maintaining accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Solid attention to detail.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of patient safety and emergency protocols.

Qualification:

- Diploma/Degree in OT Technology, Surgical Technology, Nursing, or another relevant healthcare qualification preferred.
- Appropriate clinical training and competency certification for assigned hair-transplant responsibilities should be completed as per organizational and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience:

- Preferred: 1–3+ years of experience in hair transplant procedures.
- Hands-on experience with graft handling, graft loading, and implanter techniques is preferred.
- Candidates with demonstrated experience in FUE/DHT or similar hair restoration techniques will be preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Performance may be assessed on:

- Accuracy of graft handling and counting.
- Graft damage/wastage rate.
- Accuracy and efficiency of implanter loading/authorized implantation activities.
- Compliance with sterility and infection-control protocols.
- OT preparation and procedure readiness.
- Documentation accuracy.
- Equipment and instrument handling.
- Patient-safety compliance.
- Punctuality, discipline, and attendance.
- Team coordination and adherence to SOPs.
- Participation and performance in technical training and competency assessments.

Qualified Expectations: The OT Technician – Implanter is expected to demonstrate precision, sterility, discipline, patient-safety awareness, confidentiality, teamwork, and accountability throughout every hair transplant procedure.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
