Role Description This full-time, on-site General Ophthalmologist role is based at Trinity Super Speciality Eye Hospital’s facility in Pollachi.
The General
Ophthalmologist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage common ophthalmic conditions, and provide medical and minor surgical treatments as appropriate. Daily responsibilities include evaluating patients using diagnostic equipment, prescribing medications, counseling patients and families on treatment plans, and coordinating care with optometrists, nurses, and other clinical staff. The role also involves pre- and post-operative assessment, maintaining accurate medical records, adhering to clinical protocols and safety standards,
and participating in quality improvement and continuing education activities.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS, DO, DNB, or equivalent), with valid medical registration.
- Proficiency in comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and management of common ophthalmic disorders, and use of modern diagnostic tools (e.g., slit lamp, tonometry, fundoscopy, OCT where available).
- Experience in outpatient care, minor ophthalmic procedures, and pre- and post-operative patient management; exposure to cataract and other routine surgeries is an advantage.
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail in documentation, and commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety.
- Effective communication skills to explain diagnoses, procedures, and treatment options clearly to patients and families in a compassionate manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a high-volume clinical environment.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, training, and hospital-led quality and clinical governance initiatives.
- Prior experience in a tertiary or specialty eye care setting is preferred but not mandatory; early-career ophthalmologists with solid clinical skills are encouraged to apply.
