Role Description The Farming Intern role at Akshayakalpa Organic is a full-time, on-site position based at the Shirur farm. The intern will support daily farm operations, including assisting with organic fodder cultivation, monitoring cow health and well-being, and maintaining clean, safe housing and grazing areas.

Responsibilities include helping with feeding routines, observing animal behavior, recording basic farm data, and supporting milk collection and handling processes in line with organic and hygiene standards. The intern will learn and apply sustainable farming practices, participate in farm improvement activities,



and collaborate with farm staff and supervisors to ensure efficient and ethical operations. The role may also involve assisting in small-scale trials, documenting observations, and contributing to initiatives that enhance productivity, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

- Interest in organic farming, dairy production, and sustainable agriculture, with a willingness to learn hands-on practices in the field.
- Basic understanding of farm operations, animal care, or agricultural science; prior exposure through coursework or family farming background is beneficial.
- Physical ability to work on a farm, including standing, walking, and lifting moderate weights for extended periods, and working in outdoor conditions.
- Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and basic record-keeping ability to track farm activities, animal health indicators, and field data.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate respectfully with farmers, supervisors, and colleagues in a diverse environment.
- Commitment to ethical, humane, and environmentally responsible practices aligned with Akshayakalpa Organic’s values.
- Minimum educational qualification of a high school diploma; enrollment in or completion of an agriculture, animal science, or related program is an advantage.
- Willingness to be based in office in Shirur for the duration of the internship and follow safety, hygiene, and operational guidelines.
