About The Company

Founders today are building global companies from day one — but the systems that manage their money were built for a different era. Aspire exists to change that!

We’re building the financial operating system for global founders, bringing banking, software, and automation into a single platform so businesses can move faster across borders and stay focused on building.

Aspire is built by people who think from first principles, care deeply about solving hard problems, and take real ownership of their work. Our team brings global experience from leading fintech and technology companies, and many of us are former founders and operators who understand what it takes to build thoughtfully, make trade-offs, and deliver at scale in a global environment.

Backed by leading global investors including Y Combinator, Peak XV, and Lightspeed, Aspire has been trusted by more than 50,000 startups and growing businesses worldwide to manage their finances since 2018. Together with partners like J.P. Morgan, Visa, and Wise, we’re building for the next generation of global companies.

About The Role

We're hiring a Dispute Ops Sr Specialist I to own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer disputes and chargebacks — from initial claim assessment through filing with the card network and tracking to resolution. You'll work closely with Fraud Investigations, Engineering, and our card processor to make sure eligible disputes are filed correctly and on time, and that ineligible claims are identified and closed out with a clear rationale.

- Review customer dispute claims against card network rules (Visa Core Rules & VPSR, and equivalent Mastercard/other scheme rules where applicable) to determine eligibility and the correct dispute reason code/condition
- Distinguish genuine unauthorized-transaction fraud from consumer disputes (non-receipt, not-as-described, billing errors, duplicate charges) and from non-disputable scenarios (e.g., authorized payments to scammers),

routing each correctly
- Gather and validate the required documentation and evidence from customers before filing, within the network's time limits
- File and manage disputes end-to-end through the relevant network portal (e.g., Visa VROL), tracking cases through representment and arbitration stages where needed
- Maintain complete, audit-ready case records - inputs, decision rationale, and outcome - for every case handled
- Escalate suspected fraud, scam patterns, or compromised-card indicators (e.g., card cloning, unusual cross-border activity) to the Fraud Investigations team
- Partner with Engineering and Data teams to improve dispute tooling and automation, and to keep eligibility logic current as network rules change
- Track dispute volumes, win/loss rates, recovery amounts, and turnaround times; report trends to senior stakeholders
- Continuously refine dispute SOPs and playbooks as network rules, transaction types, and fraud typologies evolve (e.g., digital wallets, crypto-linked purchases, cross-border edge cases)
- Liaise with the card processor and network representatives on complex or escalated cases

Minimum Qualifications

- 2-4 years of experience in card dispute/chargeback handling, fraud operations, ideally in fintech, banking, or payments
- Strong understanding of fraud typologies relevant to digital and non digital finance products and of fraud detection methodologies
- Working knowledge of card network dispute frameworks and reason codes (Visa dispute conditions under VCR/VPSR; Mastercard chargeback reason codes a plus)

- Comfortable working with transaction-level data (authorization records, card-present vs. card-not-present indicators, CVV/3-D Secure results) well enough to assess whether evidence supports a claim
- Strong grasp of AI concepts and the ability to apply AI tools (e.g., Claude, n8n) to real workflows at Aspire
- Solid analytical skills - able to spot patterns, weigh partial or ambiguous evidence, and reach a defensible decision under time pressure
- Excellent attention to detail and clear written documentation, since case files may be reviewed by auditors or referenced in network arbitration
- Comfortable operating within strict, non-negotiable regulatory/network filing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

- Direct hands-on experience filing disputes via Visa VROL, Mastercom, or a similar network portal
- Exposure to debit/prepaid card issuance programs and processor relationships.
- Familiarity with payments, card networks, or cross-border transactions
- Basic SQL or data-querying skills (e.g., Databricks) to pull and interpret transaction records during case investigation
- Experience in a high-growth or multi-market fintech environment
