Role & responsibilities
- Examine and interpret surgical pathology, biopsy, cytology, and oncology specimens.
- Provide accurate and timely diagnosis, grading, staging, and classification of malignancies.
- Review complex and challenging oncopathology cases and provide expert second opinions.
- Interpret and correlate immunohistochemistry (IHC) findings with morphological features.
- Review and interpret relevant molecular pathology and biomarker testing, including predictive markers used for targeted and immunotherapy decisions.
- Ensure comprehensive, standardized, and clinically relevant pathology reports.
- Correlate pathological findings with clinical, radiological, surgical, and laboratory information.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards and oncology case discussions.
- Advise clinicians and oncologists regarding appropriate ancillary investigations and tissue utilization.
- Maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy, quality assurance, and patient safety.
- Supervise and guide pathology consultants, residents, fellows, technicians, and other laboratory staff as applicable.
- Develop and implement SOPs, quality-control measures, and laboratory best practices.
- Support accreditation, audits, quality-improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
- Stay updated with advances in oncopathology, molecular diagnostics, precision oncology, and emerging biomarkers.
- Contribute to academic activities, teaching, research, publications, and continuing medical education programs.
