Roles and Responsibilities
- Examine patients, diagnose surgical conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures according to clinical requirements.
- Manage conditions involving the gastrointestinal tract, abdomen, breast, thyroid, hernias, soft tissues and related areas.
- Conduct preoperative assessments and provide postoperative care and follow-up.
- Attend emergency consultations and manage acute surgical cases, trauma and surgical complications.
- Perform minor and major surgical procedures in accordance with hospital protocols and accepted clinical standards.
- Collaborate with anaesthetists, intensivists, physicians, radiologists, nurses and other clinical departments.
- Explain surgical procedures, expected outcomes, possible risks and recovery plans to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative notes and patient records.
- Follow NABH standards, infection-control protocols and hospital safety guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audits,
departmental meetings and quality-improvement activities.
- Guide junior doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals when required.
