We are looking for a warm, confident, and community-minded volunteer to plan and deliver offline (in-person) seminars for families in our community. The volunteer will lead sessions on cyber and screen hygiene, family wellbeing and communication, mental health awareness, bullying prevention, and health and nutrition — and will also help mobilise and gather local residents, parents, and children to attend. This is a high-impact, front-facing role suited to someone who enjoys public speaking, connecting with people of all ages, and turning awareness into real conversations within families.
Seminar Topics to Cover
- Cyber & Screen Hygiene for All Ages — safe and balanced use of phones, apps, gaming and social media, with a special focus on children: screen-time limits, online safety, privacy, and healthy digital habits.
- Family Wellbeing — building encouraging, non-judgemental homes; reducing negativity and criticism; practical tools for open, respectful communication between parents and children and among family members.
- Mental Health for the Whole Family — recognising stress, anxiety and emotional struggles in children, parents and elders; reducing stigma; when and how to seek professional support.
- Bullying — recognising bullying (including cyberbullying), prevention strategies, and how parents, children and schools can respond and support one another.
- Health & Nutrition — age-appropriate guidance on balanced diets, healthy routines, and lifestyle habits for children and adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Session Planning
- Prepare straightforward, engaging, and culturally appropriate content for each seminar topic, suitable for a mixed audience of children, parents,
and elders.
- Coordinate with the NGO team on scheduling, venue, and required materials (posters, handouts, activity sheets).
- Facilitation
- Deliver interactive, offline seminars — using simple language, real-life examples, activities, and participatory open discussion rather than lecture-style talks.
- Encourage participation from children and adults alike; create a safe, non-judgemental space for questions.
- Adapt delivery style and content depth to the age group present (children, parents, mixed audience).
- Community Mobilisation
- Help promote upcoming seminars within the community — through local outreach, flyers, word-of-mouth, resident associations, schools, or community groups.
- Build relationships with local families to encourage steady attendance and follow-up participation.
- Maintain a simple attendance/participation and progress record for each session.
- Follow-up & Reporting
- Collect basic feedback from attendees after each session to improve future seminars.
- Share a summary/report with the NGO coordinator after each seminar (attendance, key discussion points, feedback).
- Flag any case where a family or child may need referral to a mental-health professional or child-safety resource — as per NGO protocol, not personally diagnosing or counselling.
Who We're Looking For
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups, including children and elders, in the local language(s) spoken in the community.
- Genuine interest in child safety, mental health, family wellbeing, or public health/nutrition (background in psychology, social work, education, public health, or nutrition is a plus, but not mandatory).
- Patient, empathetic, and non-judgemental communication style; able to discuss sensitive topics (mental health, bullying) with care.
- Good organisational skills — able to plan a session and follow through with outreach and reporting.
- Prior experience in teaching, counselling, community work, or public speaking is preferred but not required — training will be provided.
- Willing to undergo a basic background/reference check, given the role involves direct interaction with children.
What We Provide
- Training and ready-to-use seminar content/toolkits on all five topics.
- Promotional support (flyers, social media, venue coordination) to help gather attendees.
- A certificate of volunteering and letter of recommendation on satisfactory completion.
- Reimbursement of local travel/material costs, if applicable .
- Opportunity to build public-speaking, facilitation, and community-organising experience.
How to Apply Interested candidates should send the following to
[email protected] :
- A brief note on why you'd like to volunteer for this role (150–200 words).
- Your resume / a short bio, including any relevant experience.
- Your availability (days/times) and preferred locality within [city/area].
