Role Description The CEPS — Cultural Researcher / Research Associate is a Part-time remote role Cultural Exchanges (CEPS) is building a structured digital ecosystem for cultural objects, art documentation, provenance, evidence and cultural history. Day-to-day tasks include research on artists, artworks, cultural objects and historical information.
Collect and organise reliable documentation and evidence. Contribute to provenance and object records. Verify information through credible sources. Maintain accuracy and consistency of the CEPS database.
Work with the CEPS team to continuously improve the cultural knowledge base conducting qualitative and quantitative research, mapping cultural trends and emerging practices, and preparing concise reports, briefs, and concept notes for internal and external use. The role supports the design of exhibitions, collaborations, and projects by gathering contextual information on artists, movements,
and relevant sociocultural topics.
The Research
Associate will also assist with content development for publications, presentations, and digital platforms, coordinate with partner organizations and contributors, and maintain organized documentation of sources, references, and project materials. Collaboration with curatorial, editorial, and strategic teams is central to this role, with a focus on translating research into clear, accessible insights that align with the institution’s vision.
Qualifications
- Strong research skills, including literature review, qualitative and quantitative methods, and source evaluation.
- Knowledge of cultural studies, art history, contemporary art practices, or related humanities and social sciences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly for diverse audiences.
- Experience organizing information, creating research briefs, and supporting publication or project development.
- Comfort working in a remote, collaborative setting, with strong time management and self-directed work habits.
- Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, online research databases, shared drives).
- Demonstrated interest in creativity, consciousness, social impact, and intercultural dialogue.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cultural Studies, Art History, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in research roles within arts, culture, nonprofits, or academic settings is an advantage.
- Ability to work respectfully and inclusively with individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds.
