About The Role FM is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Engineer to spearhead growth initiatives within its fire protection and building materials segments across India and the Middle East. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, fostering strong relationships with manufacturers, end users, and regulatory authorities, and supporting the certification process.

This role requires a strategic thinker with technical expertise and excellent communication skills to promote FM’s certification services and expand its market presence in these regions.

The Business Development

Engineer will be responsible for representing FM at industry events, providing technical guidance, and supporting certification projects from inception to completion. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to safer buildings and industrial facilities while driving business growth.





Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with at least five years of relevant experience in business development, technical sales, or marketing within the fire protection industry or related industrial sectors. A strong understanding of product certification processes, fire protection products, and FM standards is advantageous.

Candidates should have the ability to translate technical certification requirements into compelling value propositions for customers and demonstrate proficiency in stakeholder engagement and lead management. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Prior experience working in or traveling to the Middle East is desirable, as is familiarity with regulatory frameworks and industry standards in the region.

Responsibilities

- Drive business development efforts across India and the Middle East to increase the adoption of FM Approved products and services.
- Identify, qualify, and engage manufacturers, influencing decision-makers to pursue FM Certifications and approvals.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, end users, and regulatory stakeholders to facilitate certification and product adoption.
- Represent FM at industry seminars, conferences, and trade shows, delivering technical presentations and fostering industry connections.
- Stay informed of evolving regulatory and certification requirements in India and the Middle East to ensure compliance and provide expert guidance.




- Travel as necessary, including overnight stays, to support customer engagements and participate in industry events (approximately 40% travel).
- Contribute to certification projects by assisting with project scoping, conducting audits or witnessing tests, and preparing detailed documentation and reports.
- Develop and apply technical expertise across engineering and scientific disciplines to support internal teams and customers with certification processes and technical inquiries.
