About the firm

A. Jalan & Co. is a Kolkata-based chartered accountancy firm established in 1987, serving family-owned businesses and closely held companies across trading, manufacturing, exports and financial services. About the role We are hiring accountants to be deputed at client offices in Kolkata. You will handle the client's books end to end under the supervision of our senior accounts leads and partners. You remain on the firm's rolls.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day accounting in Tally Prime — sales, purchases, expenses, journals, banking and cash Monthly bank reconciliations and party ledger reconciliation (debtors, creditors, related parties)

GST working for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and GSTR-2B versus books ITC reconciliation TDS — section-wise deduction check at entry stage, quarterly return data, challan tracking

Month-end closing and year-end schedules; support to the audit team during finalisation Weekly written report to the firm on work completed, pending items and documents awaited

Flagging any compliance due date at risk at least seven days in advance

Requirements

B.Com; CA Inter or CMA Inter (cleared or partly cleared) is an advantage 2 to 5 years of accounting experience,



preferably in a CA firm or a business accounts department Working command of Tally Prime, including ledger scrutiny and error correction Practical knowledge of GST and TDS provisions Excel at working level — lookups, pivot tables, filters Hindi and Bengali conversationally; English sufficient for written reporting Willing to work from a client's office, Monday to Saturday Preferred Exposure to trading, distribution, manufacturing or export clients Experience of handling an audit or tax assessment from the accounts side Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini in daily work What we offer

Firm-funded training on GST, TDS and Tally updates, exposure to audit and assessment work at the firm office, and a defined growth path to Senior Accountant and Accounts Lead. Two of our current senior leads have been with the firm for around eighteen years and grew through this route.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
