Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly ethical Internal Audit professional to strengthen the organization's internal control framework and ensure compliance across financial and operational processes.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting independent audits across various business functions, including Accounts & Finance, Purchase, Sales, Inventory, Stores, Production, Fixed Assets, Expenses, Payments, Receivables, and Statutory Compliance.
The role requires a professional who can independently identify process gaps, financial irregularities, control weaknesses, and potential risks, and provide practical recommendations for strengthening internal controls and improving business processes.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal audit methodologies, financial controls, GST, TDS, reconciliations, inventory controls, and ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Audit & Financial Controls
- Plan and conduct periodic internal audits across various departments and business processes.
- Review the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and financial processes.
- Verify compliance with company policies, SOPs, delegation of authority, and approval procedures.
- Identify financial irregularities, process gaps, control weaknesses, and potential risk areas.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to strengthen internal controls.
- Conduct risk-based audits and prioritize high-risk business areas.
- Ensure implementation and compliance of approved audit recommendations.
2. Accounts & Financial Transaction Audit
- Review and verify financial transactions, accounting entries, vouchers, invoices, ledgers, and supporting documents.
- Conduct audits of expenses, payments, receipts, advances, and reimbursements.
- Verify the correctness and authorization of transactions as per company policies.
- Review general ledger accounts and identify unusual or exceptional transactions.
- Check supporting documentation and approval trails for financial transactions.
- Verify bank reconciliation statements and identify unreconciled or long-outstanding items.
- Review cash transactions and ensure proper cash management controls.
3. Purchase & Vendor Audit
- Audit the complete Purchase-to-Payment process.
- Verify Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Goods Receipt Notes, invoices, and payment approvals.
- Review vendor on-boarding and approval processes.
- Verify price comparisons, quotations, purchase approvals, and authorization matrices.
- Identify duplicate payments, excess payments, unauthorized purchases, and other irregularities.
- Review vendor balances, ageing reports, advances, and reconciliations.
4. Sales & Receivables Audit
- Audit the Order-to-Cash process and related financial controls.
- Verify sales invoices, credit notes, debit notes, discounts, schemes, and approvals.
- Review customer outstanding balances and ageing reports.
- Verify collection records and reconciliation of customer payments.
- Identify long-outstanding receivables and unusual transactions.
- Review credit limits and approval processes for customers.
5. Inventory & Stock Audit
- Conduct periodic and surprise physical verification of inventory.
- Audit and verify:
- Raw Material
- Work-in-Progress (WIP)
- Finished Goods
- Stores & Spares
- Packaging Material
- Damaged / Obsolete Inventory
- Reconcile physical stock with ERP/system records.
- Identify inventory shortages, excess stock, slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
- Review stock adjustment entries and authorization processes.
- Verify inventory valuation and movement controls.
- Review stock transfer documentation between locations/warehouses.
6. Manufacturing & Operational Audit
- Review operational processes, identify process inefficiencies, and control gaps.
- Verify material consumption and wastage records.
- Review production-related documentation and inventory movement.
- Conduct audits of stores, warehouses, and operational locations.
- Verify adherence to approved SOPs and operational controls.
- Conduct surprise audits wherever required by management.
7. Statutory Compliance Review
- Review GST compliance from an internal audit and control perspective.
- Verify GST invoices, Input Tax Credit (ITC), reconciliations, and relevant documentation.
- Review TDS deductions, payments, reconciliations, and statutory compliance processes.
- Verify other applicable statutory and financial compliances.
- Coordinate with Accounts and Finance teams to identify potential compliance gaps.
8. Fixed Asset Audit
- Conduct physical verification of fixed assets.
- Verify asset capitalization and supporting documentation.
- Review depreciation calculations and accounting treatment.
- Verify asset movement, disposal, sale, and write-off procedures.
- Maintain and review Fixed Asset Registers.
9. MIS & Management Reporting
- Review departmental MIS reports and financial information.
- Analyse significant deviations, unusual trends, and exceptions.
- Prepare audit dashboards and management reports.
- Present key audit findings and risk areas to Senior Management.
- Assist management in strengthening reporting accuracy and financial transparency.
10. Audit Reporting & Follow-up
- Prepare detailed Internal Audit Reports containing:
- Audit Observation
- Risk Level
- Root Cause
- Financial Impact
- Recommendation
- Management Response
- Corrective Action
- Target Closure Date
- Maintain an Audit Observation Tracker.
- Follow up regularly with concerned departments for closure of audit observations.
- Validate corrective actions before closing audit points.
- Escalate critical and overdue observations to Senior Management.
11. Coordination with External Auditors
- Coordinate with:
- Statutory Auditors
- Tax Auditors
- GST Consultants
- Internal Audit Consultants
- Other external agencies
- Provide required schedules, documents, reconciliations, and audit support.
- Track and ensure closure of external audit observations.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Principles and Financial Statements.
- Good understanding of Internal Audit Methodologies and Internal Financial Controls (IFC).
- Knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and basic Companies Act provisions.
- Strong understanding of Inventory Accounting and Stock Audit.
- Knowledge of Purchase-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash processes.
- Experience in bank, vendor, customer, and ledger reconciliations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, Lookups, and analytical reporting.
- Working knowledge of ERP and Accounting Software such as SAP, Tally, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
- Ability to analyse large volumes of financial and operational data.

Preferred Candidate Profile
- CA Inter preferred; other relevant finance/accounting qualifications may also be considered.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in Internal Audit, Accounts, Finance, or Risk & Compliance.
- Experience in a Manufacturing, Trading, FMCG, Garment, Textile, or Export-oriented organization will be preferred.
- Experience in conducting Inventory, Operational, Financial, and Process Audits.
- Strong understanding of ERP-based business processes.
- Ability to independently identify risks and recommend practical control improvements.
- Comfortable coordinating with multiple departments and senior management.
- Candidates who can join immediately or within a short notice period will be preferred.
