Position : Project Engineer – CMC

Department : Construction Management & Project Management Consultancy (CMC/PMC)

Location- Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Reporting To : Project Manager – CMC / CMC Head

Experience

- 3–8 years of experience in construction supervision, PMC, project coordination, quality monitoring, or site management.
- Experience in industrial, commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, or infrastructure projects preferred.

Job Purpose To assist in the planning, monitoring, coordination, and execution of construction projects on behalf of the Client/PMC. The role involves monitoring project progress, quality, safety, contractor performance, documentation, and compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and approved schedules.

Key Responsibilities

A. Project Planning & Scheduling

1. Assist in preparation and monitoring of project schedules for Civil, Architectural, Structural, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and allied works.
2. Track project progress against approved schedules and highlight delays, risks, and bottlenecks.
3. Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure adherence to project timelines.
4. Support preparation of recovery plans and corrective actions for delayed activities.

B. Contract & Execution Monitoring

1. Study contract documents, tender conditions, specifications, drawings, and agreement clauses.
2. Monitor execution activities to ensure compliance with approved contract documents.
3. Verify that contractor activities are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
4. Assist in monitoring contractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.

C. Quality Assurance & Quality Control

1. Monitor quality of construction activities and workmanship on site.
2. Ensure implementation of approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
3. Verify compliance of materials and workmanship with approved specifications.
4. Assist in identifying quality deviations and follow up on corrective actions.
5. Prepare and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure closure of observations.
6. Participate in inspections, testing,



and quality audits as required.

D. Safety Monitoring

1. Monitor implementation of approved safety procedures and site safety requirements.
2. Coordinate with contractors and safety personnel to ensure safe working practices.
3. Report unsafe conditions and follow up on corrective measures.
4. Support implementation of statutory safety requirements and company safety standards.
5. Promote safety awareness among site personnel and contractors.

E. Technical Coordination & Material Monitoring

1. Review contractor methodologies, method statements, and execution procedures.
2. Monitor implementation of approved methodologies during construction.
3. Follow up for submission of material samples, shop drawings, technical submittals, and method statements.
4. Coordinate review and approval of submissions with consultants and project stakeholders.
5. Monitor procurement schedules and material delivery timelines.
6. Ensure only approved materials are used at site.

F. Cost Monitoring & Commercial Support

1. Monitor project progress against approved budgets and cost plans.
2. Support preparation of project cost reports and progress assessments.
3. Assist in updating billing forecasts based on actual site progress.
4. Coordinate with project teams for quantity verification and progress certification.
5. Support evaluation of variations, additional works, and change requests.

G. Project Documentation & Administration

1. Arrange and participate in project review meetings, coordination meetings, and site progress meetings.
2. Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
3. Submit project reports to clients, contractors, consultants, and Head Office as required.
4. Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and coordinate timely responses.
5. Prepare official correspondence, site instructions,



meeting minutes, and project records.
6. Maintain registers, logs, approvals, and project documentation.
7. Assist in monitoring and controlling project change management processes.

H. Project Completion & Handover

1. Assist in project close-out activities, testing, and commissioning.
2. Monitor snag identification, tracking, and closure.
3. Coordinate collection of as-built drawings, manuals, certificates, warranties, and project records.
4. Support final inspections and handover activities.
5. Ensure successful completion and handover of projects to the satisfaction of the client.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Additional certifications in Construction Management, Quality Management, or Project Management will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office Suite, and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of MS Project and project scheduling software preferred.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
- Understanding of construction methodologies, quality control procedures, and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of project reporting, documentation, and change management processes.
- Familiarity with statutory approvals and regulatory compliance requirements.
