Job Summary

We are looking for a GCP/GKE Architect to own the design and evolution of our cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, with a strong focus on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). This role blends broad cloud architecture responsibility — compute, storage, networking, security, and cost — with hands-on ownership of how our containerized workloads are deployed, scaled, and operated in production. You will set the technical direction for our cloud footprint and act as the go-to authority for platform reliability, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture (GCP)

- Design and own the overall GCP architecture — compute, storage, networking (VPCs), IAM, and security across environments.
- Select and integrate GCP services (Cloud SQL, Spanner, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, etc.) based on workload needs.
- Define multi-region, backup, and disaster recovery strategies for high availability.
- Own cost optimization and capacity planning across the cloud footprint.

Kubernetes / GKE

- Architect and manage GKE cluster topology — cluster sizing, node pools, namespaces, and setting segregation (dev/stage/prod).
- Design for auto-scaling, high availability, and graceful failure recovery of containerized workloads.
- Own networking and security within clusters — firewalls, RBAC, secrets management, and access controls.

Delivery & Operations

- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated, zero-downtime deployments.
- Set up observability — monitoring, logging, and alerting — to ensure rapid detection and resolution of issues.




- Establish infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform or equivalent) for repeatable, auditable environments.

Leadership & Collaboration

- Define architecture standards and best practices for engineering teams building on GKE.
- Mentor engineers on cloud-native and container best practices; lead design/architecture reviews.
- Partner with product, delivery, and security stakeholders to align infrastructure decisions with business needs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- 8+ years in cloud infrastructure/DevOps roles, with significant hands-on GCP experience.
- Strong, hands-on expertise with GKE — cluster architecture, networking, scaling, and security.
- Solid experience with Terraform or another Infrastructure-as-Code tool.
- Strong understanding of containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes fundamentals beyond GKE-specifics.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
- Working knowledge of IAM, networking (VPC, load balancing), and cloud security best practices.
- Experience with observability tooling (Cloud Monitoring/Logging, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

- Google Cloud certification (Professional Cloud Architect and/or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with service mesh (Istio/Anthos Service Mesh) and API gateways.
- Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar).
- Experience mentoring teams through cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
