BIM Lead / VP – Production

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat — 100% In-Office (Candidates from anywhere in India welcome to apply; relocation to Ahmedabad required) Experience: 8+ Years (Multi-Discipline BIM Production & Team Leadership) Employment Type: Full-Time | Minimum 2.5-Year Service Commitment (Employment Bond + Strict NDA applicable) Reports To: Founder / CEO

About Us

BIM Expert Studio is a fast-growing BIM and CAD outsourcing company based in Ahmedabad, India, delivering Architecture, Structural, MEPF, and Scan-to-BIM production services to Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) firms, building surveyors, and MEPF/General Contractors across the United States. We work across multiple project types and disciplines with a production team built to scale.

We're looking for a hands-on BIM Lead / VP – Production to own end-to-end technical delivery, build and lead our modeling team, and become the technical backbone of the company as we scale production capacity.

Role Summary

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role — not a purely managerial one. You will be the final technical authority across every discipline we serve (Architecture, Structural, MEPF, Scan-to-BIM), responsible for making sure any project that comes in from a US client — regardless of discipline or project type — can be delivered correctly, on time, and to US AEC documentation standards.

You will also build out the production bench itself: hiring, training, and developing modelers and drafters as the team scales.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own end-to-end technical delivery across all disciplines — Architecture, Structural, MEPF, and Scan-to-BIM — for every incoming client project, regardless of discipline or project type.
2. Review incoming project scopes from US clients and determine discipline, LOD, staffing, and timeline requirements.
3. Set up and enforce BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), modeling standards, and QA/QC checkpoints for every project.
4. Directly model, troubleshoot, or unblock any discipline when the team hits a technical wall — you should be able to open any file and solve the problem yourself.
5. Hire, onboard, and train BIM modelers and drafters across disciplines as the team scales; build internal training/SOP material for new hires.
6. Allocate resources and manage capacity planning across multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
7. Run multi-discipline coordination and clash detection reviews before deliverables go out.
8. Act as the primary technical point of contact for US clients on project-specific queries, scope clarifications, and escalations.
9.

Standardize templates, families, and content libraries across disciplines to improve production speed and consistency.
10. Mentor and develop team leads under you so the production team can eventually run with less day-to-day involvement from you.
11. Track and report production KPIs (turnaround time, rework rate, capacity utilization) to leadership.
12. Maintain strict confidentiality of client data, drawings, and business information at all times.

Technical Skills Required

- Architectural BIM

1. Full concept-to-Construction Documents (CD) production: floor plans, elevations, sections, RCPs, schedules, and detailing
2. Experience across multiple project types — residential (multi-family/single-family), commercial, hospitality, healthcare, education, and industrial
3. Revit family creation and library management across LOD 100–500
4. Working knowledge of US code frameworks (IBC, ADA) as they apply to documentation accuracy
5. Renovation, addition, and adaptive-reuse modeling from existing/as-built conditions
6. Interior architecture and tenant improvement (TI) documentation

- Structural BIM

1. Steel, concrete, wood-frame, and light-gauge structural modeling
2. Rebar detailing and structural shop drawing coordination
3. Framing plans, connections, and structural detailing
4. Translating structural engineers' design intent and calculations into accurate models
5. Foundation, podium, and structural steel detailing
6. Structural clash resolution against architectural and MEPF models

- MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection)

1. HVAC ductwork, piping, and equipment modeling
2. Electrical power, lighting, low-voltage systems, and panel schedule modeling
3. Plumbing supply, waste, and vent system modeling
4. Fire protection and sprinkler system layout and modeling
5. Multi-system MEPF coordination for clash-free installation
6. Spool and fabrication drawing generation to support prefabrication workflows

- Scan-to-BIM / Reality Capture

1. Point cloud registration and cleanup (Recap, Cyclone, or equivalent)
2. As-built modeling directly from point cloud/laser scan data
3. Existing conditions documentation for renovation and retrofit projects
4.

Accuracy validation and QA of scan-derived models against source data
5. Integrating scan-based models into ongoing design/coordination workflows

- Software & Platform Proficiency

1. Autodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure, MEP)
2. AutoCAD / AutoCAD MEP
3. Navisworks Manage (clash detection and 4D sequencing)
4. Autodesk Recap / Recap Pro (point cloud processing)
5. BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud
6. Civil 3D (added advantage)
7. Dynamo or other BIM automation/scripting tools (added advantage)
8. MS Project and Excel for scheduling and resource tracking

- Standards, Process & Coordination

1. BIM Execution Plan (BEP) development and enforcement
2. LOD (Level of Development) specification, assignment, and QA
3. Familiarity with US AEC documentation standards (AIA/NCS conventions)
4. Working exposure to ISO 19650 principles
5. Multi-discipline clash detection and resolution workflows
6. Standardizing templates and content libraries across projects and disciplines

- Leadership & Team Management

1. Hiring, onboarding, and training BIM modelers and drafters
2. Resource allocation and capacity planning across concurrent projects
3. Production quality control and deadline/SLA management
4. Direct client-facing communication with US-based AEC clients
5. Mentoring team leads and building internal training material/SOPs
6. Managing any vendor or subcontracted production resources, if applicable

Requirements

- Minimum 8 years of hands-on BIM/CAD production experience, with demonstrated exposure across at least three of the four core disciplines (Architecture, Structural, MEPF, Scan-to-BIM)
- Prior experience leading or building a production team (hiring, training, and managing modelers/drafters)
- Experience working with or delivering to US-based AEC clients strongly preferred
- Solid written and verbal English communication for direct client interaction
- Based in or willing to relocate to Ahmedabad for a 100% in-office role
- Willing to commit to a minimum 2.5-year tenure, backed by an employment bond and a strict NDA (given direct exposure to client data and production processes)

What We Offer
- A senior leadership role shaping production strategy at a company built for scale
- Direct, ongoing exposure to the US AEC market across a wide range of disciplines and project types
- Competitive fixed compensation plus performance-linked incentives
- A clear growth path into senior/company leadership as the team and client base expand
