A Field Collection Officer is responsible for visiting clients to secure overdue payments, negotiating payment arrangements, and maintaining accurate, real-time records of collections. This role requires frequent travel to client locations, acting as a company representative, and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
Key Responsibilities
Field Visits & Collection: Visiting clients in person to recover outstanding payments and, in some cases, repossess assets or secure loan documentation.
Negotiation: Negotiating repayment schedules and payment terms with debtors.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintaining detailed records of all transactions, visits, and communications. Providing daily/weekly reports to management regarding collection status.
Compliance & Risk: Ensuring all activities comply with company policies and legal regulations. Identifying and escalating high-risk accounts.
Customer Service: Addressing client concerns and resolving billing discrepancies in a qualified,
courteous manner.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Proven experience in field collections, debt recovery, or customer service.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, though a bachelor's degree in finance or business is often preferred.
Skills: Robust negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Logistics: Valid driver’s license, a clean background/credit check, and reliable transportation.
Common Performance Metrics
Percentage of target collection achieved.
Reduction in delinquent accounts
Accuracy of, and speed in, reporting.
