Job summary:
The Lab Assistant supports teachers and students in science laboratories by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and organized lab environment. This role is essential to the smooth functioning of practical science lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
Lab Preparation:
Prepare and set up materials, apparatus, and solutions for experiments and demonstrations.
Assist in the development of current experiments or practical activities.
Support during Lessons:
Assist teachers and students during practical sessions.
Ensure that students use lab equipment safely and correctly.
Maintenance & Safety:
Clean and store equipment after use.
Maintain an inventory of lab equipment and chemicals.
Ensure all equipment is in valuable working condition.
Follow and enforce safety procedures and regulations.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain records of experiments, chemicals, and inventory (Log-book).
Order supplies and manage stock levels.
Support the protected disposal of chemical and biological waste.
Qualifications and Skills:
Science Graduate
Knowledge of biology, chemistry, and/or physics.
Solid organizational and time-management skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Working conditions:
Usually works in a science laboratory or classroom environment.
May involve handling chemicals and lab equipment.
