A Senior Merchandiser in the garments industry is responsible for managing the complete order execution process from buyer inquiry to shipment. The role involves buyer communication, costing, sourcing, production coordination, quality control, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining profitability and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities Buyer & Order Management
Handle buyer inquiries, quotations, and negotiations
Manage order confirmation, sampling, approvals, and bulk production follow-up
Maintain solid buyer relationships for repeat business
Product Development
Coordinate with design and sampling teams
Develop samples according to buyer requirements
Source fabrics, trims, and accessories
Monitor sample approvals and fit comments
Costing & Pricing
Prepare garment costing sheets
Analyze fabric consumption and accessories requirements
Negotiate prices with suppliers and factories
Ensure target profit margins are maintained
Shipment & Documentation
Coordinate shipment schedules with logistics teams
Ensure all export documents are accurate
Follow up with commercial/documentation departments
Track shipment status until delivery
Team Management
Guide junior merchandisers and coordinators
Coordinate cross-functional teams
Prepare reports for management and buyers
