About the Role
We are looking for a Business Analyst / Product Owner to join our product team and help design, enhance, and deliver innovative SaaS solutions focused on water conservation, utility management, customer engagement, and data-driven water usage insights.
The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, customers, product management, UX/UI, engineering, QA, and implementation teams. The role requires a strong understanding of business processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into transparent and actionable product specifications.

The candidate should have a strong interest in SaaS products, utility technology, sustainability, water conservation, data analytics, and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership

- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring features are aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
- Define product vision, roadmap, priorities, and release objectives in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, customer impact, technical feasibility, and regulatory requirements.
- Create and maintain product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and functional specifications.
- Work closely with development and QA teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
- Clarify functional requirements and resolve questions raised by development and QA teams.
- Review completed features and validate them against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate product releases and ensure that new functionality meets defined business objectives.

Business Analysis

- Understand and document business processes related to water utilities, water consumption, conservation, billing, customer engagement, and utility operations.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and process analysis.
- Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and digital transformation.
- Convert business requirements into functional and technical requirements that development teams can understand.

- Identify dependencies, assumptions, risks, and gaps in business requirements.
- Perform impact analysis for new features and changes to existing functionality.

Water Conservation & Utility Domain

- Understand water consumption patterns and factors influencing residential, commercial, and industrial water usage.
- Work with concepts such as:




- Water consumption
- Water usage trends
- Meter readings
- AMI / smart meter data
- Billing and consumption history
- Leak detection
- Water conservation
- Usage alerts and notifications
- Customer engagement
- Water budgets
- Conservation targets
- Utility customer portals
- Consumption analytics
- Daily, monthly, and hourly usage

- Collaborate with utility stakeholders to identify opportunities to reduce water consumption and improve customer awareness.
- Understand how utility data is collected, processed, analyzed, and presented to end users.
- Translate complex water-usage and utility data into simple, actionable customer experiences.

SaaS Product Development

- Work with engineering teams to define scalable SaaS functionality.
- Understand multi-tenant SaaS concepts, user roles, permissions, configurations, and customer-specific requirements.
- Define configurable product features that can support multiple utility customers without creating unnecessary customizations.
- Analyze customer-specific requirements and determine whether they should be handled through:
- Configuration
- Product enhancement
- Custom development
- Integration

- Participate in API and third-party integration requirement analysis.
- Work with data and analytics teams to define dashboards, KPIs, reports, and data requirements.

Stakeholder & Customer Management

- Act as a key point of contact between customers, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
- Participate in customer discussions, requirement workshops, product demonstrations, and solution discussions.
- Understand customer pain points and convert them into product opportunities.
- Manage conflicting requirements and facilitate prioritization decisions.
- Communicate product decisions, priorities, and requirements clearly to all stakeholders.
- Support implementation and customer success teams with functional knowledge of the product.

Data & Analytics

- Analyze water consumption and customer data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities.
- Define requirements for dashboards, reports, KPIs, and analytical views.
- Work with SQL/data teams to validate data and business rules.
- Perform basic SQL queries for data validation and analysis.
- Understand data quality, data mapping, aggregation, and transformation requirements.
- Define meaningful metrics for measuring water conservation and customer engagement.

Required Skills

- 0 to 4 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner,



Product Analyst, or similar role.
- Strong experience working with SaaS products and Agile software development.
- Strong requirement-gathering and documentation skills.
- Experience writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Good understanding of web applications, APIs, databases, and the software development lifecycle.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and validation.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Miro, Figma, or similar tools.
- Ability to understand complex business processes and convert them into simple product requirements.

Preferred Skills

- Experience in water utilities, energy utilities, smart metering, IoT, sustainability, or environmental technology.
- Experience working with utility billing or customer information systems.
- Understanding of AMI / AMR / smart meter data.
- Experience with customer portals and utility SaaS platforms.
- Knowledge of data visualization and BI tools.
- Experience with REST APIs and system integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud-based SaaS platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Basic understanding of product analytics and customer behavior analytics.
- Experience working with geographically distributed customers or international utility organizations.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- MBA or Product Management certification is an advantage but not mandatory.
