Position: Head of Department (HOD) – Forensic Science

Job Summary

Harsha Institute of Management Studies, under Harsha Institutions, is looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Department – Forensic Science to provide academic leadership, manage departmental activities, guide faculty members, and ensure quality teaching, practical training, research, and student development.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the Forensic Science Department and ensure smooth academic operations.
- Plan and coordinate teaching schedules, faculty workload, practical sessions, examinations, and other academic activities.
- Supervise, guide, and mentor faculty members and laboratory staff.
- Ensure effective delivery of theoretical and practical classes.
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance, discipline, and overall progress.
- Coordinate and supervise forensic science laboratory activities, equipment, consumables, safety procedures, and maintenance.
- Guide students in projects, internships, research work, seminars, workshops, and field visits.
- Encourage faculty and students to undertake research, publications, conferences, and academic collaborations.
- Develop and update course plans, practical modules, teaching materials, and departmental academic resources.
- Coordinate with the Principal, Management, and other departments regarding academic and administrative matters.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, lesson plans, workload statements, laboratory records, and other required documentation.
- Support accreditation, inspection, quality assurance, and institutional academic requirements.
- Organize guest lectures, workshops, conferences, seminars, and industry/forensic laboratory interactions.
- Identify opportunities for academic collaborations with forensic laboratories, research institutions, universities,



and relevant organizations.
- Participate in student admissions, counselling, orientation, and departmental promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with university, regulatory, and institutional policies and standards.

Educational Qualification

- Master's Degree in Forensic Science / Forensic Sciences or a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Ph.D. in Forensic Science or a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with relevant research publications and academic achievements will be preferred.

Experience

- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Forensic Science.
- Candidates with prior experience as HOD, Program Coordinator, Senior Faculty, or equivalent academic leadership role will be preferred.
- Strong experience in forensic science laboratory work, academic administration, teaching, and student project guidance is desirable.

Key Objective of the Position

The HOD will be responsible for building a strong Forensic Science Department, maintaining high academic standards, developing faculty capabilities, strengthening laboratory facilities, promoting research, and ensuring overall student development and departmental growth.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
