1. Job Purpose

To provide secure, compassionate and effective nursing care to patients, maintain proper clinical documentation, administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety and infection-control standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Receive and hand over patients properly during every shift.
- Assess patients and monitor vital signs, general condition and changes in health status.
- Provide nursing care according to the patient's condition and nursing care plan.
- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids and other treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
- Verify right patient, right medicine, right dose, right route and right time before medication administration.
- Monitor patients for medication reactions, complications and deterioration and immediately inform the doctor/in-charge.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, medication charts, vital charts and patient records.
- Assist doctors during examinations, procedures and emergency situations.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, surgery and discharge as required.
- Maintain proper care of IV lines, urinary catheters, drains and other nursing-related devices within scope of practice.
- Follow all infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate PPE.
- Follow biomedical waste segregation and safe disposal procedures.
- Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity and safety.
- Educate patients and relatives regarding medication, treatment, hygiene, diet and discharge instructions.




- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the patient-care area.
- Check availability of emergency medicines, equipment and nursing supplies and report shortages to the In-charge.
- Participate in emergency response, code/emergency procedures and resuscitation activities as trained.
- Report medication errors, falls, injuries, near misses, adverse events and other incidents immediately as per hospital policy.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, laboratory, pharmacy, housekeeping and other departments.
- Participate in NABH, quality improvement, audits, training and competency programs.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, professional behaviour and proper uniform during duty.
- Perform any other nursing-related duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge / Nursing Superintendent.

3. Qualification

- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid registration with the applicable State Nursing Council.

4. Experience

- 0–2 years of relevant hospital experience preferred.
- Freshers may be considered based on competency and hospital requirements.
