Role Description The Prep and Paint Artist is a full-time, on-site role based in Kochi. In this position, the artist prepares plates for compositing by performing tasks such as clean-up, wire and rig removal, matte creation, and image restoration. The role involves frame-by-frame paint work, roto-paint, and patching to ensure seamless integration of visual effects into live-action or animated footage. The artist collaborates closely with compositors, CG artists,



and supervisors to meet creative briefs and technical requirements while maintaining consistency and quality across shots. Daily responsibilities include reviewing incoming shots, organizing prep workflows, troubleshooting technical issues, and delivering work on schedule according to production timelines.
Qualifications
Solid prep and paint skills, including roto-paint, clean-up, wire/rig removal, and plate preparation for compositing.
Proficiency with industry-standard VFX software (e.g., Nuke, Photoshop, Silhouette, or equivalent tools) and familiarity with 3D/CG pipelines.
Solid understanding of color, lighting, and photographic principles, with an eye for detail and realism in visual effects.
Ability to interpret storyboards, shot briefs, and supervisor notes, and translate them into efficient prep and paint solutions.
Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple shots and meet tight deadlines in a production environment.
