Why this Board seat matters

The enterprise develops, produces, processes and markets planting material across crop categories. Its long-term value rests on genetic integrity, research discipline, lawful access to germplasm, reliable trials, grower relationships, seed quality and honest communication of expected performance. A single season can materially influence commercial results, but research, multiplication and stewardship obligations extend across many seasons.
The organisation forms part of a large unlisted corporate house and is strengthening independent governance ahead of a more ambitious phase of research and market expansion. The Board requires a Director who understands that biological variation is real, yet cannot be used to excuse weak experimental design, inadequate isolation, poor inventory control or exaggerated product claims.

The stewardship brief

The Director will protect the scientific and ethical foundations of the seed portfolio while challenging the economics of research, multiplication, launches and inventory. The role spans germplasm rights,



breeding data, trial design, production quality, grower contracts, seasonal forecasting, complaint handling, pricing conduct, climate resilience and succession in critical scientific roles.

Eight strategic accountabilities

Germplasm rights and genetic identity. Oversee provenance, access permissions, ownership, licensing, benefit obligations, storage, access control and genetic identity. Research urgency cannot justify uncertain rights or poorly governed transfers.
Trial integrity and reproducibility. Examine site selection, controls, randomisation, data capture, missing observations, protocol deviations, adverse results and statistical interpretation. Management should report the full evidence base, not only favourable locations or seasons.
