DET IT is looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) – AWS Cloud Engineer to join our IT Engineering organization.

This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on designing, developing, and operating scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS. The ideal candidate has robust experience with AWS serverless technologies, Python development, APIs, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud security.

The candidate should be comfortable owning solutions end-to-end—from architecture and coding through deployment and production support.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and operate scalable AWS cloud-native and serverless applications.
Build production-grade AWS Lambda services using Python.
Design solutions using Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, EventBridge, and CloudWatch.
Develop REST APIs and event-driven integrations with enterprise systems.
Build and maintain AWS CloudFormation templates using YAML.
Develop AWS CodePipeline CI/CD pipelines integrated with GitHub.




Implement secure AWS solutions using IAM roles/policies and least-privilege access.
Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting using CloudWatch.
Drive technical design, code reviews, testing, deployment automation, and production support.
Mentor engineers and contribute to cloud architecture and engineering standards.

Required Skills

8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant hands-on AWS experience.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and Python.
Strong experience with API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
Experience with CloudFormation and YAML templates.
Experience building AWS CodePipeline CI/CD pipelines with GitHub.
Strong understanding of serverless and event-driven architecture.
Experience with REST APIs, JSON, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
Strong software engineering fundamentals, including coding, testing, debugging, and code reviews.
