Job Context & Major Challenges
Creating/visualizing an idea and producing a range; Researching emerging fashion trends as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colors and silhouettes. Understanding design from a technical perspective, i.e. producing patterns, toiles and technical specifications for designs; sourcing, selecting and facilitate buying fabrics, trims, fastenings and embellishments and adapting existing designs for mass production;
Major Challenges Are
Working closely with the larger design team, buyers, product developers and production teams to develop innovative ranges which are in line with the customer & market requirements
Understanding the trends and fashion styles before the actual time for the fashion comes
Conduct primary & secondary Research on Fashion & Lifestyle trends; benchmark competition brands and travel to fairs/markets & mills
work closely with the buying team/marketing team and participate in sell-thru presentations to identify key takeaways which needs to be integrated into design lines.
Call out all colors/fabrics/silhouette/product innovation/ornamentation and consolidate creation of trend forecast for the upcoming season for the category
KRA2 Season Concept
Create the seasonal concept
to ensure commercial viability/fashion sensibility and reinstatement of the consumer value proposition and brand promise
KRA3 Line Creation
Liaison with the Product & Product Development teams to understand costing/commercial viability of the merchandize.
Guide the team on preparing winning ideas to convert concepts into inn
