Role & responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance

- Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment within the assigned areas.
- Develop preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance strategies.
- Monitor equipment health and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate shutdown planning, execution, and post-maintenance reviews and Breakdown.
- Minimize equipment downtime through effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts and consumables.

Asset Reliability

- Improve equipment reliability using preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repetitive failures.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as:
- Equipment Availability
- MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)
- MTTR (Mean Time to Repair)
- Maintenance Cost
- Breakdown Hours

- Recommend and implement modifications to improve equipment performance.

Planning & Execution

- Prepare annual, monthly, and weekly maintenance plans.
- Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Utility departments for maintenance scheduling.
- Ensure timely completion of shutdown jobs within planned timelines.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality execution.

Team Management

- Supervise mechanical engineers,



supervisors, technicians, and contract manpower.
- Allocate manpower efficiently based on maintenance priorities.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and technical guidance.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and statutory regulations.
- Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and confined space entry procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Investigate equipment-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper housekeeping across all maintenance areas.

Inventory & Cost Control

- Monitor maintenance budgets and control maintenance costs.
- Optimize inventory levels for mechanical spares.
- Verify technical specifications for procurement of equipment and spare parts.
- Coordinate with the purchase and stores departments for timely material availability.

Preferred candidate profile

- 08 15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the iron and steel industry.Minimum 4 - 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Hands-on experience in Mini Blast Furnace (MBF) Mechanical.
