Job Summary:
The CNC & VMC Production Supervisor is responsible for managing day-to-day machining operations involving CNC and VMC machines, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning & Execution:
- Plan and monitor daily machining activities (CNC & VMC)
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per schedule
- Optimize machine utilization and reduce idle time
- Machine Operations & Setup:
- Supervise CNC/VMC machine setup, tooling, and offsets
- Ensure proper program execution and cycle time control
- Coordinate with programmers for program improvements
- Tool & Process Management:
- Monitor cutting tools life and ensure timely replacement
- Reduce tool wear, breakage, and machining defects
- Implement process improvements for cycle time reduction
- Quality Control:
- Ensure adherence to drawing specifications and tolerances
- Minimize rejection, rework, and customer complaints
- Coordinate with QA for in-process and final inspections
- Team Management:
- Supervise machine operators and setters
- Allocate work and monitor performance
- Conduct on-the-job training for operators
- Maintenance Coordination:
- Coordinate with maintenance team for breakdowns
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed
- Minimize machine downtime
- Safety & 5S Implementation:
- Ensure protected working practices on shop floor
- Enforce PPE usage and safety guidelines
- Maintain 5S standards in machining area
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of CNC & VMC machining processes
- Understanding of G-code / M-code basics
- Knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters
- Ability to read engineering drawings & GD&T; basics
- Problem-solving and leadership skills
Qualification:
- Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering
- 2-5 years in CNC/VMC machining
- Minimum 2-3 years as Supervisor or Team Leader
