Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Microsoft SQL Database Support Engineer (L2/L3) to manage, administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise SQL Server environments. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, backup and recovery of SQL databases while supporting business-critical applications and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Support

- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Manage SQL Server instances, databases, and storage allocation.
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity utilization.
- Perform database backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery testing.
- Manage SQL Agent Jobs, maintenance plans, DB mail, linked servers, and scheduled tasks.
- Troubleshoot database connectivity, performance degradation, blocking, deadlocks, and job failures.
- Provide L2/L3 support for incidents, problems, and service requests.

Performance & Availability

- Perform query tuning and SQL performance optimization.
- Monitor and optimize database resource utilization.
- Implement and support High Availability solutions including:
- Always On Availability Groups
- Log Shipping
- Database Mirroring
- Replication
- SQL Clustering

- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions.

Security & Compliance

- Manage database security, logins, roles, users, permissions, and auditing.
- Implement database hardening and security best practices.




- Ensure compliance with organizational security and data protection standards.
- Support vulnerability remediation and security audits.

Operations & Automation

- Automate routine DBA activities using PowerShell, T-SQL, or SQL Automation tools.
- Develop and maintain monitoring alerts and health-check reports.
- Participate in change, release, and problem management processes.
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and Knowledge Base articles.

Collaboration

- Work closely with Application, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Service Desk teams.
- Support database migration and upgrade projects.
- Participate in major incident bridges and customer discussions when required.

Technical Skills Required

Must Have

- Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 Administration.
- Solid T-SQL scripting and troubleshooting skills.
- Backup & Recovery strategies.
- SQL Performance Tuning and Query Optimization.
- Database Security and Access Management.
- SQL Agent, Maintenance Plans, Linked Servers.
- Windows Server administration fundamentals.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery concepts.

Good to Have

- SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
- Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance.
- PowerShell Scripting.
- Azure/AWS database migration experience.
- Monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, Datadog, SCOM, etc.
- DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines.

Qualification

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Microsoft SQL Server Certifications preferred.

Azure Database Administration certification is an added advantage
