Job Title: Botany Expert / Plant Taxonomist

Reports To: Project Manager / Head of Environmental Services

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Botany Expert with strong expertise in plant taxonomy and species identification to conduct field surveys, identify native and invasive plant species, prepare botanical reports, and support environmental assessments and conservation projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and classify plant species (trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers, grasses) through field surveys and laboratory methods.
- Conduct flora surveys, biodiversity assessments, and vegetation mapping.
- Prepare species inventories, herbarium samples, and photographic records.
- Identify rare, endemic, medicinal, and invasive species and assess conservation status.
- Support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and ecological studies.
- Provide technical inputs for afforestation, landscaping, and restoration projects.
- Maintain botanical databases and GIS-linked vegetation records (if applicable).




- Coordinate with environmental engineers, wildlife experts, and project teams.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and biodiversity guidelines.
- Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to clients and authorities.

Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Botany / Plant Taxonomy / Ecology / Environmental Science (specialization in taxonomy preferred).
- Sound knowledge of Indian flora and regional vegetation types.
- Ability to use botanical keys, floras, and field guides for accurate identification.
- Experience in herbarium techniques and specimen preservation.
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping and biodiversity software is an advantage.
- Willingness to conduct extensive fieldwork in different terrains and climates.

Experience
- 2-3 years experience in plant identification, ecological surveys, or biodiversity studies.
- Experience in consultancy projects, forest surveys, or academic research
