Overview Insight Global is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join a global financial services organisation as part of a large-scale Operations and Cyber Remediation programme. The team is responsible for modernising a portfolio of business-critical applications used across operational functions , many of which are heavily reliant on SQL Server and legacy stored procedure-based architectures . This individual will be the most senior developer within a small team and will play a key role in transforming legacy SQL-driven functionality into modern, reusable C# services. The work will support broader application modernisation initiatives, improve maintainability, enhance security, and contribute to the organisation's cyber remediation objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep SQL Server expertise alongside strong C# development experience and be comfortable providing technical leadership on how legacy database-centric functionality should be redesigned into scalable service-based architectures. Day-to-Day Responsibilities In this role, you will work across a range of business-critical applications that are currently undergoing modernisation as part of a wider cyber remediation initiative. You will analyse complex SQL Server stored procedures and database-driven business logic, designing and implementing modern C# services that improve scalability, maintainability, and reusability across multiple platforms. You will contribute directly to ongoing SQL Server migration efforts while partnering with architects and engineers to define best practices for application modernisation. The role requires hands-on development across both SQL and C#,



with approximately a 50/50 split between the two technologies. You will provide thought leadership around architectural decisions, identifying opportunities to move business logic away from the database layer and into reusable services. Additionally, you will support automated testing, CI/CD initiatives, code quality improvements, and application hardening efforts while collaborating with a high-performing engineering team delivering strategic operational projects. Must-Haves 8 years of software development experience Expert-level SQL Server and T-SQL development Extensive experience with complex stored procedures, query optimisation, and database design Strong C# .NET development experience Experience modernising legacy applications and database-heavy architectures Experience converting business logic from SQL/stored procedures into service-based architectures Robust understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and scalable application development Experience working within CI/CD environments Strong analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision Plusses JavaScript development experience Angular or React experience Experience building modern UI components Financial Services or Capital Markets experience SQL Server migration experience Cyber remediation or application hardening project experience Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code exposure Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) Experience implementing automated testing frameworks and release pipelines
