? Hiring: Software Engineer III – Cognos & Databricks Modernization | Contract

We are looking for an experienced Data & Analytics Engineer to support enterprise reporting solutions and drive the modernization of legacy IBM Cognos reporting into a modern Databricks Lakehouse ecosystem.

Role: Software Engineer III – Cognos & Databricks Modernization

Position: Contractor

Experience: 5+ years in Software Engineering / Data Engineering / Analytics Development

Cognos: 3+ years of hands-on experience

Location: Bangalore

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance, and support IBM Cognos reports, dashboards, and Framework Manager models .
- Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into scalable analytics solutions.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for enterprise-scale datasets.
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and Databricks .
- Develop Databricks SQL dashboards and visualizations .
- Support modernization and migration of legacy Cognos reporting solutions to cloud-native analytics platforms.
- Develop scalable data models, semantic layers, and reporting solutions.
- Implement data quality, validation, and performance optimization best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and release activities.
- Troubleshoot production issues and ensure reporting reliability and performance.
- Support enterprise reporting requirements across compliance, finance, operations, and executive reporting .

Required Skills

✅ 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering,



or analytics development

✅ 3+ years of hands-on IBM Cognos Analytics development

✅ Robust experience with Cognos Framework Manager, reports, and dashboards

✅ Strong SQL development and query optimization

✅ Advanced Python , PySpark , and distributed data processing experience

✅ Hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse Platform and Databricks SQL

✅ Knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT

✅ Experience with GitHub/source control

✅ Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Skills

⭐ Cognos-to-cloud analytics/reporting migration experience

⭐ Snowflake / Delta Lake

⭐ AWS / Azure

⭐ Data governance, data quality, and data catalog

⭐ Airflow / REST APIs

⭐ CI/CD and DevOps practices

⭐ Experience with compliance, legal, finance, or enterprise reporting

⭐ Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Microsoft Copilot

Education

Bachelor‘s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
