About the team
The Product Accounting team at Stripe supports products across Stripe by providing guidance on accounting implications and enabling teams to make informed strategic decisions. The team records business transactions accurately and on time in the balance sheet and income statement, and partners with cross-functional and international teams in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do
You'll join the Product Accounting team to support revenue accounting for Payments and Payment Products. You'll use your technical expertise in US GAAP, including ASC 606,
to identify accounting implications and customer impacts, advise cross-functional partners, and develop operating processes that help Stripe scale.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting
- Partner with product, go-to-market, and Finance teams to understand current products, features, and contracts
- Partner with Systems and Engineering teams to improve financial systems and automate accounting processes
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and design processes and controls for emerging business activities
- Develop and maintain current accounting procedure documentation
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance-sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reporting deliverables, and reviews
