About The Job:
- To lead the end-to-end migration of critical banking databases from legacy Oracle Solaris (SPARC/x86) platforms to Linux (RHEL) environments.
- You will ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and optimal performance tuning on the target Linux infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions:
Migration Strategy:
- Design and execute migration paths for complex database landscapes, choosing between RMAN Cross-Platform Transportable Tablespaces (XTTS), Data Guard (Physical Standby),
or Data Pump based on database size and downtime constraints.
Workplace Preparation:
- Configure and harden target Linux servers.
- This includes managing kernel parameters, HugePages, and sysctl settings tailored for database workloads.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Use Ansible or Terraform to automate the provisioning of Linux environments, ensuring consistency across Dev, UAT, and Production.
Performance Benchmarking:
- Compare SQL execution plans and system throughput between Solaris and Linux to identify and resolve performance regressions post-migration.
Storage & Networking:
- Manage the transition of storage from Solaris ZFS/UFS to Linux-native file systems or ASM.
- Troubleshoot network latency issues across the migration pipe.
