- Understanding and experience with AWS D1.1, ASME, API, and international customer specifications.
- Solid knowledge and troubleshooting skills in GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, and welding overlay.
- Expertise in root cause analysis, and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret structural, vessel, and piping fabrication drawings.
- Understanding of welding metallurgy for carbon steel, stainless steel, low alloy steels, copper, and nickel alloys.
- Knowledge of basic NDT techniques.
- Qualification and approval of welding procedures before fabrication begins.
- Welder training and qualification prior to project commencement.
- Correct welding consumables selection and trouble-free site performance.
- Availability of welding consumables before fabrication starts with minimum inventory.
- Low weld repair and rejection rates.
- Established and implemented improved welding methodologies/automation techniques.
